A Glaring Double Standard

In A Glaring Double Standard, a published piece at Iraq Net, Jane of Armies of Liberation deftly balances passion and intellect in a compelling read that defines and questions the "middle-eastern" double standard we sadly see practiced everyday - both around the world and in our own MSM. As they say, read the rest - links above.

What a glaring double standard. The Arab world is enraged over the shooting of a wounded, unarmed Iraqi insurgent by a uniformed US soldier.

There is no similar outrage for Margaret Hassan. Is it because she was an Anglo, a woman, or because she was killed by a Muslim?

... The rules of war don't apply to the insurgents, only the Americans. And if one horrible act occurs at the hands of one American soldier, the world howls.

... Tomorrow when Iraqi children are again deliberately targeted by these terrorists-not freedom fighters-what will we hear from Arab countries then, not even muted mumbling. Is it a lack of courage or a lack of concern? Why is there so much more sympathy for the fighter in civilian clothes who was shooting from a mosque than for Margaret? For the insurgents than for the civilians? For the terrorists than the police?

Wow - thank you so much for posting this piece - why isn't this being shouted from the rooftops?? Oh, that's right, like Chris Matthews said this week - "They're really not bad guys". I have soooooo had it with the MSM and all of the naysayers in our country. Why they would not talk about the atrocities of the terrorist, cowardly thugs we are fighting but will talk until they're blue in the face about a young Marine doing what he needed to do to keep himself and his brothers-in-arms alive is way beyond me. I just don't get it.

I caught your comments on Jane's site. Cool site! I like the name. Mine are My News and Ideas and Nickerbokker News. One is for news, the other for opinion, news, and football. The all American game! LOL I know, that's baseball, but that's too slow! They are not spelled the same way to look them up, though. NikerbokkerNews.blogspot.com, MyNewznIdeas.blogspot.com. Just in case. Well, you have a great day, and God bless your family and you.

Thanks so much for the link.
