Stop the Violence: Vote Cranky

In a development that has left many bloggers shocked and outraged the recent vote fraud scandal that plagued Wizbang's 2004 Weblog Awards is now taking a backseat to a violent attack caught on video. The terrible carnage apparently grew from the once friendly competition in this category.

The Gleeson Blog Clan, comprised of Gleeson family members Sean, Phoebe, Faith, Abby, Bede, and Gilbert, is purportedly a degenerate family of former bootleggers. It has been alleged that they devilishly conceal their Westie-like gang activities behind the facade of a home school .  The group unleashed the vicious attack on the Cranky Neocon while he was raking leaves behind his suburban PA home. Fortunately for Cranky a neighbor with camcorder at the ready was on scene to capture the action. I have secured a copy of the tape and the original has been turned into authorities while they pursue their investigation.

In a significant related development it has been confirmed that the weapons for the assault, dozens of sharpened marbles, were supplied by another nominee in the same category, Robb Allen of the notorius Sharp as a Marble Blog. It appears that this combined criminal conspiracy was hatched by the two competing bloggers in a move to eliminate other competitors and assure each of either first or second place.

Authorities are desperately trying to contact all bloggers in the category as a precaution and are said to be considering moving some into protective custody. The  reach of this criminal enterprise is unknown and could be vast. In the video, Gleeson, clearly identified by his Clan colors worn in the form of a kilt, is shown mercilessly pelting the Cranky Neocon with marble after marble until the rest of the Gleeson Clan move in with sticks to finish him off. Thankfully, the alert neighbor came to the Cranky Neocon's aide and managed to get him to a local emergency room where they removed several embedded sharpened marbles from his torso and limbs, which probably saved the bloggers life.

Flowers and wreathes abound where several bloggers have assembled in front of the Neocon home to hold a candlelight vigil and call for calm. A spokesperson for the group, Jane of Armies of Liberation, who is in her own heated competiton here is imploring everyone who cares about what's right and the rule of law to Vote for Cranky and show the criminal element they are not welcome in the blogosphere.
